Words I Learned the Wrong Way
Words I learned—
nobody taught me.
I sowed their meaning;
the clothes they wear, I designed them.
It is normal,
because they say it should be,
that people grasp bad things first.
Even demotivating quotes—
we bathe in their truth with conviction.
Words I know
are stiff, cruel, and mean.
New words—I don’t know their meaning;
what I feel is what I give.
I struggle to undo it after I learn their true feeling.
It is not intentional.
Man can still create—after the Creator.
In this world, evil is learned first,
but good will come in good measure,
shaken together and running over.
Because words I’ll speak—
I’ll speak their opposite.
Times have changed, so has mindset.
From here and on,
Words I’ll say…
Are fine, fair, and fit.
I cut, sew, and undo the seam.
For I’ll fashion them words as He will,
styling them with fabrics that match well—
For words I’ll now learn, I’ll use the right way.

I am not a master poet or the most poetic person, but this piece is so simple and yet resonates deeply. The way we grasp bad habits so easily. Thanks for a beautiful piece cynthia
